  • Enjoy more happiness and peace of mind

These are just a few of the widely reported benefits of regular meditation. Meditation is a practice in which an individual trains their mind towards a particular point of focus, leading to beneficial states of consciousness, such as experiences of greater calm, clarity and well-being.

“Meditation is the practice of turning your attention to a single point of focus.”

Meditation works on a number of different levels. From a physical point of view, meditation induces the body’s relaxation response. This means your breathing slows, your blood pressure drops and you feel more relaxed and calm. From a brain science point of view, regular meditation reduces the reactivity of the Amygdala – the fight or flight part of your brain. This means you become less reactive to worries and events, so that things that used to cause you stress don’t bother you so much. From a psychological point of view, meditation allows you to experience a powerful sense of being OK, just as you are. This enhanced self-acceptance reduces perfectionism and unhealthy comparison to others, as well as leading to a happier more contented life. There are many different forms of meditation, including focused attention techniques (such as following the breath) and open awareness techniques (such as mindfulness). With over twenty-five years’ experience of meditation, I can offer clients a wide variety of tools and methods so they can gently awaken to their own deeper potential for calm centred living through developing their own personalised, self-directed practice of meditation.

“Mindfulness is the non-judgemental awareness of the present moment.”
