Improve Emotional Health
Emotional health is about being happy, self-confident, self-aware and resilient. It is about feeling positive about daily life and work and having good relationships with friends and family. People who are emotionally healthy are able to cope with life’s challenges and recover more easily from setbacks. Emotional well-being is a key determinant of your satisfaction with life. If your emotional health isn’t as solid as you’d like it to be, the great news is there are many things you can do to boost your mood, build strength and resilience, and get more enjoyment out of life.
Many things can impact your emotional health, both in your outer life (like work stress, the death of a relative or friend, relationship problems or money worries) and in your inner life (for example, a difficult emotional history, negative self-beliefs or unhelpful thinking). It can be all too easy to get stuck in self-defeating patterns of thinking or be flooded by over-powering emotions (such as anger, depression, guilt, jealousy or grief). Difficulties with emotional health are extremely common – about one in four people in the UK seek help for their emotional health at some point in their lives. But treatment for emotional health shouldn’t just be about ‘fixing a problem,’ it should also help raise your emotional intelligence (the ability to identify, understand and manage emotions more effectively) and feel positive, resilient and optimistic about yourself and your future.
